BACKSTORY
I have over three decades of professional experience in artistic expression via drawing, painting, sculpting, cartooning, illustrating and back to painting again. It all began growing up in an existential, draconian pentecostal home being told if I wasn't good my mother would go away without me and I would burn for an eternity in hell.

My kindergarten teacher sat the class in front of an easel with a large sheet of paper and tempura paint and told us to paint something, anything. I painted the entire sheet red. When she asked me to hurry up and finish it, I told her it was finished. Laughing at me, she asked what it was. I told her it was the end of the world and all you could see was fire.
She then ridiculed me and my art in front of the whole class.
An artist was born.
ARTIST STATEMENT
So it all just goes away? We are all just forms of energy until our star bursts away? The struggle to survive is merely a competition against time? Suffering is merely the tantrum of the pleasure center of our brain for more self-indulgent entertainment? Are we collectively bargaining toward the good? Permanence is theater regarded in front row seats. We know this and express it in reverence to aged objects still breathing on their own. Crust is a badge of honor. Patina is the song of retired warriors. Rust soothes the retina in adagio. Therefore, I paint.

ADDITIONALLY
I paint what I like to see. I paint what I want to hang on my walls. I paint worlds and scenes I want to escape into. I paint the term ‘what if.’ I do not want to paint seascapes or flowers over and over again. I don’t want to be limited to the confines of the plein air approach.
I don’t want to be welded and brazed to any one convenient style. I love art and painting for the inherent freedom it affords.
When I start painting a canvas, I have no idea what will commence. I just start. I used to sketch them out. But it felt too constricting. I longed to paint freely. And that’s what I do. As a middle child, I want your attention. And that’s what I do. Boldly and freely.
I love mixed media, but I paint mostly in acrylic because I find it to be the most liberating of all mediums.
Additionally, I consider myself a predicament painter. I love to take bold risks on the canvas where the only way out is to paint my way out of it and bring it to a successful conclusion. I learn more from this process than any other method. There are those times where it all goes smoothly, and art just spills out of me onto the canvas. Other times I work overtime making mistake after mistake to the point where I work through it to when I’m finally ready to sign the work realize they are not mistakes after all, but risks. And each risk is a gift I accept humbly.
1st Amendment:
Defining Abstract Fusion, my self titled genre.
In this case, fusion can fuse together different elements and contrasts, Contrast include color, textures a feeling of viewing more than one painting or universe on the same canvas. I am fascinated with pushing the boundaries of differences within the same piece.
